The vibrant spirit of Hedy Jaracz, a loving and resilient woman, has found its way back to the embrace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. After a life filled with joy, laughter, and countless cherished moments, Hedy peacefully departed this world at the remarkable age of 100 ½ on February 9, 2024. Born on July 30, 1923, in Hamtramck, she leaves behind a legacy of love and a treasure trove of memories.
Hedy, one of six siblings, was born into the Czerniawski family and graduated from Hamtramck High School in 1941. Preceded in death by her siblings Ben Czerniawski, Mary Evans, Wanda Kosinski, Lillian Kata, and Ray Czerniawski, Hedy’s family was a cornerstone of her life. After World War II, Hedy married the love of her life, Andrew Jaracz, on October 19, 1946. Their union spanned 44 years until Andrew’s passing in 1991. Together, they not only built a successful home insulation business but also raised six children who would carry on their legacy.
A Cherished Matriarch: Hedy’s Loving Family
Hedy’s nurturing love extended to her children – Susan (George) Duditch, Andrew II, Gary (preceded in death), Marilyn (Gary) Enmark, Georgia (Paul) Osak, and Gloria (Steve) Wolken. As a grandmother, Hedy shared her warmth with nine grandchildren – Donovan, Jill, Andy Joe, Ty, Kiley, Kendall, Cody, Elliot, and Corey. Her great-grandchildren, Haley, Dominique, Desiree, Courtney, Mac, Elle, Paris, Brantley, Brody, Nathan, Cora, Logan, Sadie, and Reese, added immeasurable joy to her life. Before marriage, Hedy worked as a telephone operator at Michigan Bell, showcasing her early independence and work ethic. However, her true passion unfolded in the role of a devoted mother, raising six children under the age of seven. Despite the demands of motherhood, Hedy found time for creative pursuits such as crocheting, ceramics, and oil painting. Her artistic talents added a touch of beauty to the fabric of her family’s life.
Cherished Summers and Global Adventures
Summers held a special place in Hedy’s heart, and she spent memorable moments up north in Prudenville with family and friends. Campfires became the backdrop for lasting friendships and wonderful memories. Remarkably, at the age of 80, Hedy ventured to Poland, where she contributed her time teaching English to Polish children, leaving an indelible mark on hearts across borders.
For 11 years, Hedy called Town Village Senior Living in Sterling Heights home. There, she forged enduring friendships, embraced water aerobics, and enthusiastically participated in various classes. In her final years, Hedy found comfort and care at Adored Living Adult Foster Care in Rochester Hills, where she was surrounded by love and compassion.
A Legacy of Love and Strength: Hedy’s Lasting Impact
Hedy Jaracz’s century-long journey was a testament to resilience, love, and an unwavering spirit. As family, friends, and those whose lives she touched come together to remember her, the joy, laughter, and lessons she shared will be woven into the fabric of their own stories.
