Born on July 5, 1939, in Philadelphia, PA, Dotty’s life was a rich tapestry woven with threads of unwavering devotion to her family and a myriad of passions that brought her immense joy.

Dotty’s early years in Philadelphia were vibrant, marked by her spirited involvement at Germantown High School, where she stood out as a majorette. Her love for music and performance blossomed at an early age, leading her to lend her alto soprano voice to many church choirs. Dotty’s singing wasn’t merely an expression; it was a gift that radiated joy to all fortunate enough to hear her melodious tones.

Family First: A Loving Mother and Doting Grandmother

Family stood as the cornerstone of Dotty’s world. As a loving mother to her daughters, Denise D. Griffing (James) and Brenda B. Maddock, she poured boundless affection into their lives. Her grandson, Jack R. Griffing (Samantha), and great-grandson, Noah S. Griffing, were recipients of her nurturing love.

Alongside her daughters, Dotty’s family circle included her sisters, Ruth E. Lins (the late Floyd) and the late Mildred E. Thomas (survived by William), along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who will forever cherish memories of Dotty’s warmth and her knack for choosing the most delightful Christmas gifts.

She found immense joy in dancing, and her love for travel took her to captivating destinations such as Hilton Head, SC; Seattle, WA; Cape Cod, MA; England; Italy; and Paris. As an avid bowler, her sweet and sassy nature endeared her to fellow league members, making her a favorite on the lanes. Beyond these pursuits, Dotty found delight in knitting, solving Sudoku puzzles, engaging in game nights, and staying connected through text messages with friends and family.

Dotty leaves behind a legacy of love, music, and laughter. Her vivacious spirit, love for adventure, and devotion to family have left an indelible mark on those who were fortunate enough to share in her life.
