On June 9, 1990, Troy married Kimberly Truitt in Prophetstown, IL, embarking on a journey of love and partnership that would span over three decades.

After 21 years of honorable service, Troy transitioned to civilian life but continued his service to the nation by working at TACOM Detroit Arsenal for an additional 20 years.
