In a devastating turn of events over the weekend, Murfreesboro experienced two separate fatal crashes that left the community in mourning. The Murfreesboro Police Department’s Fatal Accident Crash Team (FACT) is actively investigating both incidents, seeking to uncover the circumstances surrounding the tragic accidents that claimed the lives of Terry Sague and Dylan Wilson.
Terry Sague, 76, of Castalian Springs, met a heartbreaking fate while waiting at a crosswalk on his recumbent bike. The fatal crash occurred at the intersection of Joe Knight Drive and Medical Center Parkway around 11:49 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 3. Sague, along with two other recumbent bike riders, faced a sudden collision when a 2020 Lexus RC3 skidded and swerved from the inside lane of Medical Center Parkway.
Terry Sague Death Tribute
The driver of the Lexus lost control, veering onto the sidewalk and striking two of the three recumbent bicycle riders. Tragically, Sague lost his life in the incident, and another rider was injured, though reported to be in stable condition after being transported to the hospital. The car’s trajectory also led to a pedestrian crosswalk pole and a tree before coming to a stop. While the driver of the Lexus emerged unharmed, the investigation is ongoing, and potential charges may be pending.
Dylan Wilson’s Motorcycle Collision
In an unrelated incident, Dylan Wilson, 24, of Smyrna, lost his life in a motorcycle collision on NW Broad Street. The fatal crash occurred around 4:53 p.m. on the same Saturday, Feb. 3. Wilson collided into the back of a 2022 Tesla sedan, resulting in his tragic death at the scene. Another motorcyclist, riding alongside Wilson, sustained injuries after colliding with the same car but was reported to be in stable condition following medical attention.
Preliminary investigations suggest that both motorcycle riders may have been speeding and quickly changing lanes when Wilson collided into the rear of the Tesla. The impact caused Wilson’s motorcycle, a 2023 Kawasaki ZX6, to go airborne, catch fire, and land at the bottom of an embankment. The other motorcycle rider, unable to avoid the collision, crashed into the side of the Tesla.
