Born on January 28, 1958, in Charlotte, North Carolina, Stephanie’s journey was marked by faith, academic excellence, and a deep commitment to her family.

As we remember her life, let us reflect on the impact she had on those around her. Stephanie, affectionately known as “Steph” by family and friends, began her spiritual journey at an early age. Born to Mazelle Price Roberts and the late Royal N. Roberts, she accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal savior. Her faith was nurtured at St. John United Methodist Church, where she attended classes and Sunday School. Living just a short distance from the church, Stephanie would regularly walk to attend services, exemplifying her dedication to her spiritual path.

Stephanie’s academic journey was marked by excellence and achievement. She attended Virginia Public Schools and Rockingham County Schools, graduating from John Motley Morehead High School in the Class of 1976. Her outstanding achievements led her to be recognized in “Who’s Who Among American High School Students,” an honor reserved for students who excelled in academics, extracurricular activities, and community service.

Continuing her pursuit of knowledge, Stephanie attended Saint Augustine’s University, where she earned her B.A. Degree in Art with Magna Cum Laude honors. During her time at the university, she became a member of the AKM Honor Society, the Art Club, and the Omega Psi Phi fraternity, where she held the title of “Q-Pearl.” Stephanie’s commitment to her studies and artistic pursuits left an indelible mark on those who witnessed her dedication.

Eustis in Newport, VA, and Langley Air Force Base in Hampton, VA. Her talents and dedication were evident as she moved up to a position as an illustrator at one of the base Graphics Shops, Training and Audiovisual Support (TASC). In this role, she worked on military briefings, exhibits, videos, and photographic assignments, earning numerous letters and comments of appreciation throughout her career. Stephanie’s journey continued at Langley Air Force Base, where she served as an ASA Visual Information Specialist (Graphic Designer). Her creative contributions added a visual dimension to military communications, and her work was acknowledged and admired by colleagues and superiors alike. Stephanie’s legacy as a skilled illustrator is a testament to her passion for the arts and her commitment to her profession.

Proud Motherhood: A Loving Legacy Lives On

From her marriage, Stephanie became the proud mother of a daughter and son, Renada L. Spellman and Reynaldo L. Spellman, Jr. Her devotion to her family extended to her three beautiful and intelligent grandchildren, Jaida, Ryan, and Laila. Stephanie’s love and guidance have left an enduring impact on the lives of her family, creating a legacy of warmth, strength, and love. Stephanie is survived by her three sisters: Marilyn T.
