The life of Steven Gustafson, who was born on March 21, 1947, in Grinnell, IA, will be remembered forever. Love, service, and devotion were the defining characteristics of his life’s journey, which came to a close on February 1, 2024, at Unity Point Grinnell Regional Medical Center. Those fortunate enough to have known him feel an overwhelming sense of loss as word of his passing spreads across town.

Celebrating the Life of Steven Gustafson – Reflections on a Journey of Love and Service

The life of Steven Gustafson was defined by his unwavering dedication to helping those in need. His caring character is on full display in his support of St. John’s Lutheran Church and The Wounded Warrior Project. Donations in Steven’s honor have been directed toward these causes rather than flowers, a testament to his unwavering commitment to his religious community and his fellow veterans.

Steven Gustafson is survived by his wife Patricia and two children, Stephanie Harper and Seth Gustafson, who will carry on his legacy. The love and guidance he offered will be felt by his grandchildren, Abby, Sydney, Reid Harper, and Lucas Gustafson, who will carry on his legacy.

Roger Hill, Steven’s brother-in-law, and his parents, Sidney and Lenore (DeBondt) Gustafson, all passed away before him. His sister Suzie Hill of Lawrence, KS, and the rest of the community are grieving his passing and remembering him as a man who brought joy to everyone he met. The town of Grinnell is coming together in its sorrow as it bids farewell to Steven Gustafson.
