After traveling through Vernal and Wasatch County, he finally settled down in the Roosevelt City Police Department, where he has been employed for the past two years. His journey took him through three counties.

At the moment, the Roosevelt City Police Department, which is made up of sixteen officers, is struggling to fill a position that cannot be filled. A straightforward admission was made by Watkins, who stated, “I do not believe that we will be able to fill this hole.”
When Cody Barton was not wearing his uniform, he was serving as a K-9 officer, a role that was intertwined with his family life. His dedication to service extended beyond the uniform. Funeral services have been planned to take place on Monday, February 5, at eleven o’clock in the morning at the stake center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Duchesne. The services will take place as the community mourns the loss of a hero. The Hullinger Mortuary will be open for visitation on Sunday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., and the church will be open for visitation on Monday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. His final resting place will be at Roosevelt Memorial Park, where he will be laid to rest with the honors that are fitting for a devoted and well-liked law enforcement officer.
