Three distinct shooting events occurred across the state of Queensland overnight, resulting in the deaths of two individuals, one of whom was a member of the Queensland police force. At 12:06 in the morning, a woman in her 20s was allegedly shot in the chest at a particular house on Grant Road in Morayfield, which is located north of Brisbane. An 18-year-old guy from Morayfield was taken into custody by the police on Sunday morning, and he was being questioned by the authorities.
The property and a car that was associated with it have been designated as crime sites, and the police have issued a statement stating that investigations into the circumstances surrounding the occurrence are still ongoing. A little more than an hour later, police opened fire on a man who was 26 years old at his residence on Payne Street in the Mount Louisa enclave of the west side of Townsville. The man was in a severe condition when paramedics arrived, according to the Queensland Ambulance Service; however, he passed away at the scene of the accident.
Acting Chief Inspector Chris Lawson stated that officers were called at approximately 11:15 a.m., but they did not get at the location until almost one hour later. When they arrived, they were greeted by a man who was brandishing a knife. Lawson stated that the cops initially attempted to control the individual by using a Taser, but this method was unsuccessful. With regard to the specifics of what transpired with the Taser, he stated that the facts surrounding the incident are not currently known.
Through the use of the body-worn footage, we will be able to give the coroner with the information that we have gathered once we have completed the investigation and determined what exactly took place. The man was known to the police, according to Lawson, but the encounters between them had been “minimal.” The investigation into the incident will be carried out by the Ethical Standards Command of the QRS on behalf of the state coroner.
An earlier incident on Mary Street in Brisbane City resulted in two ladies receiving gunshot wounds to their legs. One of the women was in her 20s, while the other was in her late teens. The event occurred at approximately 10.40 p.m. the previous evening.
After a period of time had passed, a man in his 30s and suffering from chest and leg wounds presented himself at a place in Fortitude Valley. Both of the patients were transported to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, where their conditions remained stable.
