Sean Preston Obituary, Salt Lake City UT, Marine, & Member of UT County Sheriff’s Department Has Died

Our deepest condolences are extended to the Preston family on the loss of Sean Michael, a cherished father, devoted Marine, and respected deputy with the Utah County Sheriff’s Department. On January 24th, Sean passed away, leaving behind a legacy of bravery, selflessness, and steadfast love.

Growing up in Sunnyside, Queens, NY, Sean’s parents Pamela and Martin instilled in him a deep sense of responsibility and dedication. Sean was born on November 3, 1982. Following his path, he joined the US Marine Corps and proudly served his country till he became a Sergeant.

The principles of discipline, devotion, and selfless duty that Sean learned while serving in the Marines would shape his personality for the rest of his life. In the course of his military career, Sean met and wed fellow service member Sheryl (Sheri) Johnson; they had a happy family and lived happily ever after for almost 15 years.

Their commitment and support for one another are evident in the joint efforts they made to build a home and raise their three lovely children. Dad was Sean’s first priority. Emmett, Kaitlyn, and Shannon, his three beloved children, carry on his heritage of love. In every embrace, grin, and shared moment, Sean’s love for his family shone through. They were his universe.

Sean joined the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Department after serving in the military, continuing his dedication to public service. Everyone, from his fellow officers to members of the neighborhood, looked up to him as an exemplary law enforcement officer who worked relentlessly to protect them.

Among Sean’s many accolades during his time with the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Department was the esteemed Employee of the Month Award, which was given in recognition of his outstanding service. His solemn remembrance of the dead deputies as a member of the department’s Color Guard further demonstrated his dedication to paying homage to the fallen heroes who risked their lives to ensure the safety of others.

Many people in the neighborhood and beyond were moved by Sean’s courage and generosity; he leaves behind his mother, Pam, his father, Martin, and brother, James. Let us rejoice in Sean Preston’s life of service, love, and sacrifice as we remember him. On January 27th, at Anderson & Sons Mortuary (6141 West 11000 North, Highland, UT 84003), there will be a memorial service to honor and remember Sean. There will be a viewing from 10:45 to 11:45 in the morning, and then a funeral ceremony at 12:00 in the afternoon.

American Fork Cemetery, 26 W 600 N Street, American Fork, Utah, will host a graveside military service on Wednesday, January 31st at 10:00am. His incredible life will live on in the memories of those he left behind, and I pray that they find comfort in that.
