He was a graduate of Wesley Public Schools, and he frequently joked about the “grace of his teachers” helping him get through the adjustment period when he took on a more significant role on the family farm following the death of his father when he was still a small child. After establishing Bob Becker Construction in 1966, he went on to extend his business into farming and convenience stores with subsequent expansion.

Bob wed Mary Carol West, the woman he wanted to spend the rest of his life with, on January 16, 1971, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Their marriage has lasted for more than half a century. In Wesley, they were responsible for the upbringing of five children until relocating to Prior Lake, Minnesota in 2019 in order to be closer to their family. Bob was a highly dedicated member of the community.

He was a volunteer firefighter, a member of the City Council, and a member of the Wesley Community Club, all of which benefited from his time and efforts. As a further demonstration of his unwavering commitment to Catholic education, he sat on the boards of directors of a number of banks as well as the Bishop Garrigan school board.

It was Bob’s favourite thing to do to spend time with his family and friends. Some of his favourite activities included going fishing excursions to Canada, hanging out with friends, and playing golf at Hillside and during his winters in Arizona. Bob, who was 85 years old at the time of his death, passed away on January 12, 2024 in Savage, Minnesota.

Bob’s family would like to express their profound gratitude to the staff at NorBella, Moments Hospice, and Peggy, his home health aide, for the care and assistance they have provided over the course of the past half year.
