Rock Valley, Iowa, is in mourning following the departure of John Vande Hoef, a much-loved member of the town who passed away at the age of 82. On Friday, January 26, 2024, he passed away without any pain or suffering in the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. At the funeral ceremony that will take place on Tuesday, January 30, at 10:30 AM at the Netherlands Reformed Church of Rock Valley, the community will come together to pay their respects and celebrate his life.
During this trying time, the Reverend J.J. Witvoet will be the one to officiate the ceremony, which will provide comfort to the family and friends of the deceased. John Vande Hoef will be laid to rest in a peaceful setting at Valley View Cemetery in Rock Valley, which is where the private family burial is scheduled to take place.
A viewing with the family present has been planned for Monday, January 29, from five o’clock in the afternoon until seven o’clock in the evening at Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley.
This is to provide friends and members of the community the opportunity to express their condolences. In remembrance of John Vande Hoef, his family has asked that, rather than sending flowers, those who desire to express their condolences make a donation to a cause that was very deeply important to him.
