Mae R. Wood, a cherished member of the Angel Road community, peacefully passed away on Friday, January 19, 2024, at the age of 92, surrounded by her loving family. Born on October 23, 1931, in Queensbury, Mae lived a life marked by love, faith, and a deep connection to her family and community. Mae’s journey began in the town of Warrensburg, where she attended school, laying the foundation for the woman she would become. On November 24, 1949, she exchanged vows with Clifford Wood in Hudson Falls, embarking on a remarkable 57-year journey of marriage until Clifford’s passing on May 19, 2007. The couple made their home on Fuller Road in Corinth, where they shared many years of joy and companionship.
Professionally, Mae contributed her skills and dedication to the Troy Shirt Makers Guild in Glens Falls, where she was employed for several years. Her commitment to hard work and contributing to her community reflected her character and values. Mae was a devoted member of the Corinth Free Methodist Church, where her faith played a central role in her life. The church provided her with spiritual guidance, fellowship, and a sense of community that she cherished throughout the years.
Known for her warmth and nurturing spirit, Mae found joy in simple pleasures. She enjoyed crocheting, solving crossword puzzles, and nurturing her garden. Above all, she treasured the moments spent with her family, finding fulfillment in their love and companionship. Mae’s journey was not without its share of challenges and heartaches. She faced the painful loss of her husband, Clifford, and her parents, adding profound layers to her life story. The passing of three sons, Larry, Charles, and Frank Wood, as well as her granddaughter Tammy Lynn Wood, brought both sorrow and resilience to her heart. Mae also navigated the challenges of losing 11 siblings, each leaving an indelible mark on her family’s history.
Despite the losses she endured, Mae’s strength and resilience shone through. She is survived by three loving daughters: Marcia L. Marcotte of Corinth, Phyllis Wells of Corinth, and Lorna Wadsworth of Melbourne, TX. Her daughter-in-law, Sue Wood of Corinth, also held a special place in her heart.
Mae leaves behind a legacy of love in the form of 14 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. The family tree she cultivated continues to flourish, branching out with each new generation. Her love extended to her two surviving sisters, Phyllis and Lillian, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who were touched by her kindness.
A Celebration of Mae’s life will be held at 1 pm on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at the Densmore Funeral Home, Inc., located at 7 Sherman Ave., Corinth. Reverend Ernie Wester will officiate the service, providing comfort and guidance during this difficult time. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation hours leading up to the service. Mae’s impact on the lives of those who knew her will be remembered and celebrated, creating a space for shared memories and collective support.
As we bid farewell to Mae R. Wood, let us honor her memory by embracing the values of love, faith, and resilience that defined her extraordinary life. May she rest in eternal peace, reunited with her loved ones, and may her legacy continue to inspire generations to come.
