Thomas Eggleton Obituary, Tribute To A Remarkable Soul – Death

On the morning of Friday, January 12th, 2024, the world lost a remarkable soul with the passing of Thomas Eggleton, affectionately known as Tom. At the age of 82, surrounded by loved ones and after a brief illness, Tom departed peacefully at Salisbury Hospital. A devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Tom’s legacy extends far beyond his immediate family, touching the lives of many as a cherished friend.

Tom Eggleton was more than just a patriarch; he was the epitome of love, honesty, and dignity. Those who had the privilege of knowing him would attest to his unwavering integrity and the warmth that radiated from his kind heart. His passing has left an indescribable void in the hearts of his family, who are grappling with profound sadness.

In the midst of the sorrow, there is solace in knowing that Tom is now reunited with his beloved wife, Annie, after 22 months of separation. The enduring love they shared serves as a testament to the depth of their connection, and this reunion in eternity brings a sense of peace to those mourning his loss. During the last months of his life, Tom received exemplary care at Mellowes Care Home in Gillingham. The family expresses deep gratitude to the compassionate and dedicated staff who provided comfort and support during a challenging time.

A funeral has been scheduled to celebrate Tom’s life on Friday, February 16th, at Gillingham Church, commencing at 12:00 pm. The service will be followed by a private family burial, emphasizing the intimacy of the occasion. A wake will then be held in the church hall, providing an opportunity for friends and family to share memories, console one another, and reflect on the impact Tom had on their lives.

In honoring Tom’s memory, the family kindly requests no flowers, but instead encourages donations to the Stars Appeal at Salisbury District Hospital and the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance. These two charities held a special place in Tom’s heart, reflecting his compassionate nature and commitment to helping others in times of need.

As we bid farewell to a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, let us remember Tom Eggleton not with tears of sorrow, but with gratitude for the joy he brought into our lives. May he rest in peace, knowing that his legacy lives on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to share in the warmth of his love and friendship.
