Aurora, Colorado mourns the sudden passing of a cherished member of its community, Dick C Yanase, who left this world on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at the age of 65. Dick was a loving Christian, Air Force Veteran, Dad, Brother, Ojiisan (grandfather), and Friend to many. His life, marked by compassion, service, and family values, left an indelible impact on those who had the privilege of knowing him .
Born on July 10, 1958, in Denver, Colorado, to Dick Cherry Yanase and Ethel Uemura, Dick carried his family’s legacy with pride and grace. He joined the United States Air Force, where he served with honor, embodying the principles of duty, integrity, and excellence.
Dick’s commitment to his faith was evident in the way he lived his life. A devoted Christian, he found solace and strength in his beliefs, influencing those around him with his unwavering faith and kindness. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister Emily Mori, but his memory lives on through those he leaves behind.
Dick is survived by his children, Aaron (BG) Nead, Beth (Don) Ravenscroft, Nikko Yanase, and Miki Yanase. He was a proud grandfather to three grandchildren: Maddox, Cameron, and Sophia. His siblings, Norman (Kathy) Yanase and Eileen (Vern) Coy, as well as numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins, share in the grief of his loss.
A burial service to honor Dick’s life will take place on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at 9:20 am at Ft. Logan Cemetery, located at 3698 S Sheridan Blvd, Denver, CO 80235. The family encourages attendees to dress casually, reflecting Dick’s laid-back and approachable nature.In recognition of Dick’s vibrant spirit and the love he spread throughout his life, a celebration of his life will be held later in the spring or summer.
