Laplace Shooting Today In Louisiana, Fatal Shooting in Louisiana Today

An investigation into a shooting that took occurred in the vicinity of the 1400 block of Cartier Drive in Laplace on Thursday, August 31, 2023, at about 2:00 p.m., prompted the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office to react to the location. Upon arrival, deputies discovered a male subject who had been shot once and was suffering from any number of wounds.

Following his arrival at the local hospital, the victim ultimately passed away as a result of the injuries he sustained.

In the course of their investigations, investigators from the Criminal Investigations Division of the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office identified Jonathan Williams, who resides in Laplace, and Dederick Zeno, who also resides in Laplace, as individuals who are suspected of being involved in the homicide.

It was then determined that Mr. Zeno was at his residence, and he was subsequently charged with one count of murder in the principal to second degree. At this time, Mr. Zeno is being held on a bond that is valued at $175,350.00.

It was with the assistance of the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office that Mr. Williams was found on a Greyhound bus that was headed to Atlanta, Georgia. After being apprehended, it was discovered that Mr. Williams was in possession of a pistol that had been stolen. There is one count of murder in the second degree that Mr. Williams is being charged with.
