Death occurred on October 13, 2019, for Lieutenant Michael Kelly Healey, who was 56 years old. During the twenty-four years that they were married, he was a very loving husband to Jill (Sullivan) Healey, and on October 14, they celebrated their anniversary.
Born in New Haven on August 17, 1963, he was the seventh of nine children brought into the world by his parents, the late Honourable Arthur H. Healey and Frances (Murphy) Healey. At Salisbury University in Maryland, where he also participated in the varsity cross country team, Michael earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography.
His first job was as a police officer in the State Capitol, and it was there that he met the woman who would become the love of his life. Since 1993, he has been committed to serving the Bristol Police Department with great pride, earning Badge #109 and collecting a multitude of accolades and commendations, including a medal for saving lives and the title of “Officer of the Year” in 2001.
Michael was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hiking, fishing, and ice fishing. New Haven Harbour, Winchester Lake, and Brodie Park were three places that he cherished most in his life. Additionally, Mike possessed a lot of skill in a variety of martial arts styles.
Already, he is being missed beyond all comprehension since he was a protector, a good man, a spouse, a father, a son, a brother, and a friend. In addition to his devoted wife, he leaves his cherished children, Garrett, Luke and Mary, all of New Hartford; his loving mother-in-law, Mary Sullivan of Winsted; his beloved siblings, Theresa Healey of WA, Monica Waldron (Jerome) of MD, Moira Healey of East Haven, Arthur Healey (Beth) of Clinton, Alicia Sledzik (Anthony) of Higganum, Francis Healey (Sally) of Middletown, Matthew Healey (Alyson) of East Haven and Anne Healey (Randy) of New Haven; brothers-in-law, Mark Sullivan (Cindy Fixer) of Colebrook and Todd Sullivan, PhD of New Haven; numerous nieces and nephews; many friends and his family in blue which he has dedicated his life to and honourably stood beside.
