Greg died away peacefully in the early hours of Tuesday, September 26, 2023 in Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital. He was surrounded by his wife Janet and his four children at the time of his passing. The city of Toronto was Greg’s home throughout his childhood. He received his education at Lawrence Park Collegiate and joined the Toronto Cricket, Skating, and Curling Club throughout his time there.
Donald and Beth Young welcomed their son into the world on February 9th, 1956 in the city of Montreal, Quebec. Together with his twin sister, he enjoyed a successful career as an ice dancer during their teenage years and early adulthood, culminating in the achievement of the Canadian National Championship.
Following the completion of his bachelor’s degree in economics at York University in Toronto, he relocated to Fredericton in order to follow his passion for skating. In Fredericton, he became a skating coach who was well-liked and much respected.
After completing his Master of Arts in Economics degree at the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton, he moved on to pursue other opportunities. On April 30, 1983, Greg tied the knot with Janet, the day he had at long last discovered the woman he would later marry. After graduating from college, they relocated to Toronto, where Greg pursued his dream of establishing a large family and working on Bay Street. He ensured that he always wore a suit and carried a briefcase to work.
Greg and Janet raised their four children in Oakville, where they raised them. He was a superb parent who was always there for his children, offering his time, sound counsel, and unflinching love.
He never failed to show his wife and children his undivided attention and support, and he went out of his way to make sure they were happy. Throughout his life, Greg was a valued and remarkable grandfather who cherished and spoiled his grandchildren with much joy.
