I am sorry to inform you of the demise of Cortez Jekeil Downey (North Preston, Nova Scotia), who passed away on January 7, 2024, at the age of 28. It is with deep regret that we share this news with you. The people he leaves behind, including his family and friends, will miss him terribly.

The following people had already passed away before to his passing: his great-grandparent Hazel Mae Downey (Arthur), his grandfather Ronald E. David (Julia), and his godfather Tyson Beals. His godparents, Terry Beals Dartmouth, Dino Grant Toronto, Belinda “Sissy” Grant Toronto, Clorisa Downey Truro (Jason), Laverne McIsaac Dartmouth (Donald), Caunice Smith North Preston (Jerome), and Glennie Izzard, as well as his brother Daverico Downey North Preston (Marco Oliver-Clayton Dartmouth), are among those who are able to carry on his legacy. Moreover, he leaves behind a son to his parents as well as a brother who was cherished by all six of his siblings.
He was the youngest of six brothers. St. Thomas Baptist Church, which can be found at 35 Simmonds Road, North Preston, Nova Scotia B2Z1A3, will serve as the venue for the viewing that is scheduled to take place on Thursday, January 18th, 2024, between the hours of 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM.
Funeral services will be held at the same location on Thursday, January 18th, 2024, at one o’clock in the afternoon. The date and time of the service are not yet determined.
