– It was in the city of Kosciusko, Mississippi (MS) that Mrs. Jackson was born. After receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in education from Jackson State University, she continued her studies at Atlanta University and Indiana University, where she created a focus in school librarianship. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in education. In addition to her primary focus as a librarian in the Jackson Public School system and as a volunteer librarian at Tougaloo College, she also taught English, band, and served as choir director in the schools where she worked. Her primary focus was on the library.
The library was the principal focus of her attention. She joined the Wesley United Methodist Church in Kosciusko when she was on her younger years and became a member there. In the years that followed, she became a member of the Anderson United Methodist Church in Jackson, where she was employed as the organist and pianist for the congregation.
Mrs. Jackson is survived by her son, Reverend Embra K. Jackson, Jr., who is married to Rosa and lives in Starkville, Mississippi; her sister, Mary Virginia Ukegbu; and her brother, Charles Foster, who is associated with Faye.
In addition to her seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter, Mrs. Jackson is also survived by her great-great granddaughter. You are welcome to pay your respects at the Collins Northside Chapel on Thursday, December 13, between the hours of one thirty and five o’clock.
Funeral services will be held at Anderson United Methodist Church on Friday at twelve o’clock during the service. Natchez Trace Cemetery will be the location of the burial, which will take place after the service. Collins Funeral Home is in charge of making the necessary arrangements for the funeral.
