On January 14th, 2024, the world bid farewell to a remarkable soul, Maureen McCaughley (née McKerr), who peacefully passed away at her home on 24 Kilvergan Road, Derrymacash. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Maureen’s life was a tapestry woven with love, compassion, and the immeasurable joy that family brings. Maureen, known for her warmth and kindness, was the dearly beloved wife of Fergus McCaughley. Their love story, spanning years filled with shared joys and cherished moments, is a testament to the enduring power of love.
Maureen’s role as a mother was nothing short of extraordinary. She was the proud mother of Seán, Sinéad, Conor, Barry, Bríd, Róisín, and Cormac. Each child was not only a recipient of her unwavering love but also a witness to the selfless devotion she poured into their lives. Maureen’s guidance, nurturing spirit, and unconditional love laid the foundation for a family that would grow to exemplify the strength that comes from genuine bonds of kinship. Her legacy extends beyond the immediate family, reaching to embrace Seán, Edel, Elaine, Geordie, Darra, Jane, and an array of loving in-laws who became an integral part of her extended family.

Maureen’s love knew no bounds, especially when it came to her role as a grandmother. Her heart expanded with each new grandchild, and she embraced the title of “granny” with unparalleled joy. Brógán, Lorcán, Ruairi, Caitriona, Caolan, Conor, Ciaran, Odhran, Tiarnán, Sarah, Bláthnaid, Dáiríne, Saidhbhín, Seán, Daíre, Aoife, Niall, Sorcha, Medbh, and Oisín were the fortunate recipients of Maureen’s love and wisdom, and her presence in their lives was a source of joy and comfort.
As family and friends gather to bid Maureen farewell, the funeral will take place on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m., commencing from her home to St. Patrick’s Church for the Requiem Mass at 11:00 a.m.
