It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a beloved member of the Ampleforth Community, Fr Jonathan Cotton OSB, who peacefully departed this life on the afternoon of Wednesday, January 17. Fr Jonathan battled a long illness with grace and fortitude, and his unwavering commitment to his faith and community continued to inspire those around him until the end.
Fr Jonathan’s presence was a source of solace and guidance for many, having served as the Parish Priest at St Mary’s, Leyland, for an impressive three decades from 1992 until 2022.
His tenure was marked not only by his pastoral duties but also by the warmth and compassion he extended to all who sought his counsel. Fr Jonathan’s impact on the Leyland community was immeasurable, and his legacy will endure through the countless lives he touched during his dedicated service.
