James Lattimer Obituary, Death And Funeral Visitation Details

On the 31st of December 2023, our community bid farewell to a beloved figure, James Lattimer, affectionately known as ‘Jimmy.’ Born on the 18th of February 1938, Jimmy’s passing at the age of 85 has left a void in the hearts of those who knew him. With heavy hearts, we reflect on the remarkable life of a man who touched the lives of many and will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Jimmy was a well-known and respected local man whose presence left an indelible mark on the community he called home. His passing has left not only his family in mourning but has also invoked a collective sense of loss among friends, neighbors, and acquaintances who were fortunate enough to share in the richness of his life.

Born into an era marked by resilience and fortitude, Jimmy’s life unfolded against the backdrop of historical events that shaped the course of the 20th century. Growing up, he witnessed the post-war era, and as he came of age, he became a witness to the changing times and the evolution of our local community. Throughout his journey, Jimmy carved a path defined by his character, kindness, and a genuine love for those around him. His friendly demeanor and willingness to lend a helping hand endeared him to many, making him a cherished figure within the community. He cultivated relationships not just through proximity but through the authenticity of his connections.

As we reflect on Jimmy’s life, it is evident that he touched the lives of those around him in meaningful ways. Whether through a kind word, a shared moment of laughter, or a helping hand during times of need, Jimmy’s presence was a testament to the beauty found in simple acts of kindness. Jimmy’s commitment to his community was further exemplified by his involvement in local affairs. He became a familiar face, not just within the family circle, but also in the broader context of community gatherings, events, and celebrations. His genuine interest in the well-being of others and his active participation in community life made him a true local legend.

In remembrance of Jimmy, a funeral service will be held on Thursday, 18th January, at 11:30 am in Cambusnethan North Parish Church. The service will be followed by a committal at Cambusnethan Cemetery. As we come together to bid farewell to this beloved local figure, we also embrace the opportunity to celebrate the life he lived. In lieu of flowers, the family has arranged a collection in aid of the Morningside Care Home Residents Fund, a heartfelt gesture reflecting Jimmy’s compassion and concern for the welfare of others. This act of generosity serves as a poignant reminder of his commitment to making a positive impact, even beyond his physical presence.

Following the services, the family extends an invitation to all to join them at the Cambusnethan Club. It will be a time for refreshments, shared memories, and an opportunity to collectively reminisce about the wonderful moments that defined Jimmy’s life.

In the coming days, as we gather to celebrate the life of James Lattimer, let us remember him not with sorrow but with gratitude for the joy, warmth, and camaraderie he brought into our lives. May his legacy endure through the memories we share, and may the spirit of community and kindness that defined his life continue to inspire us all.
