Following the conviction of those responsible for the death of her cherished son, the mother of a young man who was slain by a single knife wound has expressed her deepest condolences to the family of her son.
Gordon Gault, who was only 14 years old when he was attacked in Elswick in November 2022, regrettably passed away in the hospital six days after the attack.
At Newcastle Crown Court, Carlos Neto and Lawson Natty, both 18 years old, were found not guilty of murder but guilty of manslaughter for their participation in Gordon’s death. The verdict was handed down earlier today. Both individuals have been placed under remand in detention, and their sentences are scheduled to be handed down at a later time.
Now, Gordon’s devoted mother, Dionne Barrett, has expressed the devastation she has experienced as a result of the loss of her “happy, loving young son.”
“We as a family will never get over Gordon’s death,” Dionne added.
We will never get over it.”Those who were unfamiliar with Gordon would say that he was a practical joker, that he was always laughing, and that he had a heart of gold. He showed a great deal of concern for his family and friends. He was a big softy and held his dog, Bruno, with the highest regard.He was such a joyful and loving young son who brought laughter and joy to the room with his boundless energy.Without him, life will never be the same.
There is no other description.When I think about the fact that I will never again be able to hear him say, “I love you, Mam,” it tears my heart.Since Gordon’s passing, I am extremely appreciative of the support and well wishes that have been extended to me.
