In the wee hours of Friday morning, Malcolm passed away from his home in a calm and serene manner. Eighty years old was his age. Although he began his time at the club as a volunteer, he eventually became the club’s kit man and worked there for more than 15 years. During that time, he worked alongside Andy Hessenthaler, Peter Taylor, Ronnie Jepson, Mark Stimson, Martin Allen, and Steve Lovell.
During his time working at MEMS Priestfield Stadium, he quickly became well-known to fans both at home and away from the stadium. He was an extremely well-liked member of the staff.
“I am absolutely devastated to learn of Malcolm’s passing,” remarked Chairman Paul Scally regarding the news of his passing. A few of weeks ago, I went to visit him at his home, and I noticed that he was very weak, uncomfortable, and obviously not in good health.
“His passing came as a shock and is a great loss. At this club, he was revered as a revered legend, and everyone adored him. We had a lot of good moments with him over the years that he was here, and he arrived as a volunteer despite the fact that he ended up being the first-team kit guy.
“He was a huge supporter of the club, and he lived in the area. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this difficult time. We shall all miss him very terribly, and he is a tremendous loss for all of us.
