On January 8, 2024, Marcia Lynn Nichols passed away in the Knoxville Area Community Hospital due to the complications of her medical issues. She was surrounded by her family at the time of her passing. She was the daughter of Leonard and Patricia Nichols and was born on March 31st, 1955 in Knoxville, Iowa.
Marcia was the daughter of two parents. Before graduating from Knoxville High School in 1973, Marcia had her education at St. Anthony’s Catholic School, which is located in Knoxville. After receiving her diploma.
Marcia went on to study Political Science at the University of Iowa and the University of Northern Iowa. On Saturday, January 13, services for Marcia will be conducted at St. Anthony’s Catholic church in Knoxville. Visitation will take place from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, and the family will be there. The funeral services will begin at 11:00 am. After some time has passed, the burial will take place in the Graceland cemetery in Knoxville.
The many people that Marcia guided and guided throughout the years will carry on her legacy. In her pursuit of change and development, Marcia was a persistent agitator who never allowed herself to become complacent. Individuals have referred to her as a force of nature, a friend, an advocate, and someone who is someone you would want to have by your side at all times.
Although all of these phrases that characterise her are accurate, none of them are able to adequately portray how extraordinary Marcia was.
Throughout her whole life, she tirelessly battled for the rights of working families and women in Iowa, all while acting as the Political Director for AFCSME. Throughout her professional career, Marcia was honoured with a great number of prizes and accolades. It was Governor Tom Vilsack who bestowed upon her the honorary rank of Colonel in the Iowa State Militia in the year 1999.
She was recognised into the Iowa Democrats Hall of Fame in 2011, and she was admitted into the Iowa Labour Hall of Fame in 2019. However, the most significant accomplishment she has accomplished in her life is that she has earned the title of “World’s Greatest Aunt” to her nieces and nephews.
