In the course of her commute home from work, our sister Kori Wilkerson was engaged in a terrible vehicle accident. Around 11:50 p.m. on Monday, January 8th, 2024, there was a collision on Interstate 91 south between exits 9 and 8. The collision involved four vehicles. At the moment, Kori is working as a nurse with the Department of Corrections in Cheshire, Connecticut.
Initially, it was reported that Kori was making an effort to assist several other individuals who were involved in the accident. At this point, a fourth vehicle collided with the first, which ultimately led to the severe injuries that Kori sustained. ICU care is being provided for Kori at Yale New Haven Hospital in New Haven, Connecticut, where she is now being treated.
As a result of the accident, she has suffered a number of fractures within her facial structure and her jaw, in addition to internal and exterior injuries.
These injuries include three haemorrhages around her brain, many lacerations, road rashes, and diffuse axonal damage (DAI). A neck brace has been provided to her in addition to the medically induced coma that has been placed on her in order to facilitate the earliest stages of her recovery. There are neurological examinations that Kori is still having, but she has demonstrated signs of improvement. She will be required to undergo facial reconstruction surgery in the coming days in order to assist in the repair of the fractures that are present on her face and jaw.
Kori is a young woman who is 29 years old and enjoys nothing more than participating in activities that allow her to spend time with her friends and family, spending time with her lovely dog Mya, going to music festivals, and pursuing a job as a nurse. Kori’s journey towards healing has only just started.
The entirety of the donations will be sent to Kori in order to assist in covering her medical expenses during her stay at Yale New Haven Hospital, as well as any future medications, rehabilitation, and other costs that may be needed.
