Judith K. Granzow Obituary, A Precious Soul Gone Too Soon – Death

Portage, Michigan resident Judith K. Granzow, who had formerly resided in Shelby Township, Michigan, passed away in a calm and serene manner on January 7, 2024. Judy, who was born in Detroit, Michigan, on August 26, 1939, has spent her entire life enjoying her passion for supper and leisurely drives by the river. Her Irish blue eyes were cheerful all the time, and they occasionally caught a glimpse of freighters sailing on the water.

Judy Lavely, the cherished daughter of Francis and Helen (Cowan) Lavely, enjoyed several childhood memories with her family and friends when she was growing up in Centerline, Port Huron/Marysville, and Marine City with her family and friends.

After graduating from high school, Judith went on to earn a degree in cosmetology and enjoyed her employment as a stylist, both on and off the job. On June 25, 1960, Judy Granzow, the man she had loved her entire life, became widowed after 59 years of marriage.

Together, they brought up their children and eventually made their home in Shelby Township. Judy was able to share love and fun with a large number of close friends who remained with her throughout her entire life. When it came to taking care of her family, beautifying her home, tending to her beautiful gardens, and valuing the species of birds that lived in nature, Judith was filled with immense pride, joy, and dedication.

Within her family, she was affectionately referred to as “The Bird.” Some of her favourite things include the dogs that belong to the family, the arts, architecture, antiquing, fashion, travelling, fishing, and singing Purple Rain when she is in the shower for example.

She was a fan of vintage films, Barbara Streisand, and Frank Sinatra…and she did so throughout the entire day! Judy, often known as “sparkle plenty,” took great pleasure in dressing in “her jewels” and designing them.

Additionally, she was unable to ever get enough of her very favourite food, which was chocolate. Judy’s family said that she was “truly” treasured by them. In perpetuity, her legacy will be remembered for her kind, compassionate, gracious, patient, courageous, sassy, and fun-loving nature.

She leaves behind those that love her: Her children are Heidi (Kevin) Cavanagh, Stacy Barkulis, Stephanie Granzow, and Christopher (Julie) Granzow. Her grandchildren are Timothy (Alexandria) Cavanagh, Alexander Barkulis, Brendan Granzow, and Aubrey Granzow. Her great-grandchild is Victoria Cavanagh. Her brother is William (Connie) Lavely. She also has nieces and nephews.
