Peter Blake Obituary, Resident of Waterford CT Has Died – Death

After a difficult stay in the hospital, Peter Lawrence Blake, who was 83 years old, passed away suddenly on Friday, December 3, 2021 at the Sussman House in Rockport. Andrew Cobb Blake and Katherine Elizabeth (Betty) Perot Blake welcomed their son Peter into the world on January 30, 1938 for the first time in Auburn, California.

His brother was the second of four boys. Immediately following the untimely passing of his father, Betty tied the knot with Duane Doolittle, a professor of economics at Syracuse University, and the family moved to the upstate region of New York with him.

Over the course of the subsequent few years, Duane, who was born and raised in Boothbay, brought all of them to Maine for the summer before finally settling down at Merrymeeting Farm in Lincolnville.

During the summer, the family entertained a large number of people on a regular basis, had square dances in their barn, and launched DownEast Magazine from the kitchen table.

The year 1955 was the year that Peter, also known as “Dreamboat,” graduated from Camden High School. During his time there, he participated in the band, played the cymbals, and defied the local police officers in their Jeep.

In April of the following year, he embarked on an amazing journey across the Atlantic Ocean to Spain and back, embarking alongside Exton Guckes and the crew of the Malabar II. Immediately following this incredible experience, he enrolled in Principia, the institution of higher learning that his ancestors had attended, and he received his degree in Business and Financial Management in 1959.

After serving for a short period of time in the United States Marine Corps, Peter started his professional career in New York City with Fahnestock & Co. He later moved to Chicago, where he continued to work as a Certified Financial Analyst and Investment Broker for a total of 27 years.

In spite of the fact that he continued to make frequent trips to Camden in his capacity as manager of the family’s Harbour Square Properties, he eventually joined R.W. Baird after having worked for Fahnestock & Co. for a number of years.
