Over the time of the forty-two years that had passed, Michael had officially established Lake City as his permanent residence. MDS Maintenance and Repair Company was established by him in the year 2000, and he eventually became the proprietor of the business which he had founded.
Hunting, fishing, playing pool, riding his side by side, going to pawn shops and flea markets, shopping, boiling and eating fried peanuts, spending time with his family, and being an eager supporter of Florida State University were some of the activities that he enjoyed doing.
He was also a fan of Florida State University. It was his love for his grandchildren that he considered to be the most important thing in his life. Michael is survived by his wife of fifteen years, Sandy Kay Dumas, who resides in Lake City, Florida; his four sons, Matthew Paul Dumas, Lake City, Florida; Michael Tyler Dumas, Lake City, Florida; Mackenzie Austin Thomas, Lake City, Florida; and Brendon Gauge McDuffie (Emilee), Perry, Florida; one daughter, Mallory McDuffie, Live Oak, Florida; two brothers.
