The 21-year-old Estrella Dorado Marin passed away on January 3 at the North Suburban Medical Centre in Thornton, Colorado, as a result of complications sustained during an emergency surgical procedure. It was reported by her relatives that she had been struggling with numbness in her upper extremities as a result of blood clots.
Spc. Estrella Dorado Marin, a freestyle wrestler who participated in the United States Army World Class Athlete Programme, was that shining example of excellence. The word “Estrella” comes from the Spanish word for star.
When asked about her sister, Spc. Adriana Dorado Marin, who was a former wrestler for the WCAP, she stated, “She was just the sweetest person.” “She is someone I would perpetually refer to as a saint. She was never in trouble, and the determination that she showed in everything that she did was what inspired me to strive to be just like her.
In light of the fact that this is an Olympic year, the demise of Estrella Dorado Marin, who had joined the United States Army in 2020 and joined WCAP in 2021, is particularly heartbreaking. The WCAP women’s freestyle assistant coach, Sergeant First Class Jermaine Hodge, stated that her objective was to achieve the aim of qualifying for the United States Olympic Women’s Freestyle Wrestling Team in the weight category of 53 kilogrammes and winning Olympic gold at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
The statement was made by Hodge, who stated, “If I had worked half as hard as she did, I probably would have been an Olympic champion by now.” If I had to choose, I would say that she was without a doubt the most diligent worker that I have ever witnessed.
Her work ethic was infectious, and when you saw her working so hard, you wanted to work just as hard as she did. There was no way that anyone could outwork her in any way, shape, or form.
Then again, they attempted to imitate it. Within the confines of the wrestling room, there is a proverb that states. The proverb goes, “Wrestling is difficult, water is wet, and rock is hard.” In addition, she exemplified the meaning of that sentence. In the words of Hodge, “When you talk about tough, she was tough.”
