Durham was the location where Thomas Holland Phillips was born on January 23, 1936. Owen and Virginia Hancock Phillips were his parents, and he was their son.
His parents took care of him. It was during that exact time period that his parents tied the knot. In 1960, he was appointed to the role of pastor at Candour Baptist Church, which served as the beginning of his professional life.
After that, he became the pastor of Ebenezer Christian Church in Raleigh, North Carolina; Grace Chapel Christian Church in Sanford, North Carolina; and in 1976, he established Tabernacle Baptist Church in Candour, North Carolina, where he remained for a period of twenty-five years. Both of these churches are located in the state of North Carolina.
For a combined total of twenty-five years, he served in various positions simultaneously. In the years that followed, he went on to become a travelling pastor and provided pulpit supply to a number of churches located throughout the state of North Carolina.
In addition to it, he fulfilled his position as a minister. During the course of his employment at Tabernacle, he held the position of director of the Living Water Youth Camp which lasted for a number of years.
Take your time. Hargett Phillips, his wife of nearly sixty years, his son Chris Phillips and his wife Dawn, his daughter Sherri Free and her husband Michael, seven grandsons, seven great-grandchildren, his sister Gloria Edwards of Siler City, and his brother Jerry Phillips of Siler City are among the people who are left behind after his passing. He was married to his wife for nearly sixty years. Nearly sixty years had passed since he had tied the knot with his wife.
