There are a lot of people who will say that one of the best things about living in South Dakota is the way that the community comes together to support people who are going through a difficult period. The generosity and support that a family from Brandon receives from their friends and neighbours has left them feeling overwhelmed with gratitude.
However, Spencer Thorsland, who is currently in the seventh grade in Brandon, is currently in his third year of fighting cancer. This is not a journey that he would want on anyone. The ache in my stomach is severe. It simply could not be tolerated.
As a result, we went to the doctor and had chemotherapy administered to me. After that, they returned in December of 2020. Additionally, they were successful in removing the majority of it,” Spencer explained.
Some very special people, including performers from the Mandalorian, came to visit him and offer their support and encouragement. “Emily Swallow is the armour from the Mandalorian, and her character has taught me something all the same, regardless of the circumstances.” Simply remember to constantly get back up,” Spencer advised. Although the family had hoped that the unfortunate news would be behind them, a visit to the Mayo Clinic found that there were further tumours.
“I was kind of like, ‘well, I don’t believe they’re going to be able to do anything,’ when I got the news that my cancer had returned for the third time. I was devastated. Also, I believe that I ought to simply go ahead and rest,” Spencer stated.
The return of friends After hearing the news, Brandon decided to take immediate action in order to support Spencer. As he was driving back to his house, he recalled an old wives’ tale.
