The first grandchild of Mary Ellen Harp and the late Reverend Donald Allen Harp Jr. of Atlanta, Georgia, and Shirley Jordan and the late James (Jim) D. Jordan of Greenville, South Carolina, Donald Allen Harp III was born on August 29, 1997. He is the oldest son of Allen and Julie Harp and the first grandson of both of his grandparents.
As the older brother of Harrison and Sarah Nell Harp, Don was a very proud brother. There were several nicknames and titles that he had, but the one that meant the most to him was “big brother.” He made his first claim to that title when he was twenty months old, filled with joy at the prospect of having a brother. Following the arrival of his sister at seven o’clock, he and Harry rapidly overcame their first amazement at the presence of a female in the family and immediately began distributing bubblegum cigars to all of their acquaintances in order to announce her arrival.
His siblings are the first to note that he was a natural when it came to playing the role of the older brother. Being the leader of the pack was something that never wore him out, and he was always seeking for ways to spend unforgettable times with his friends, particularly in the most recent couple of years. Not only was he intensely protective of his siblings, but he also insisted that they strictly adhere to the rules. His family put a lot of demands on him because he was the oldest child, and he complied with all of their demands without making any complaints. He had a natural ability to lead.
That Don being the eighth generation to grow up in the community of Inman, Georgia, was a fortunate circumstance for him. He had a deep appreciation for the natural world, a deep love for the land, and a deep understanding of how to appreciate and respect the land on which he lived. He was a lover of everything that was outdoors. On the clays course, he was a fantastic wing shot and excelled in his performance. This passion for the great outdoors inspired him to investigate and take pleasure in the more daring aspects of the Boy Scouts. His favourite places to visit were the Northern Tier, the Appalachian Trail, and Philmont, which his mother was able to attend despite the fact that he travelled to many other places with his father, his brother, and their troop.
During his time at Whitewater High School in Fayetteville, Georgia, where he graduated in 2016, he managed to maintain a healthy balance between his friendships, community service, academics, band, and athletics.
Don, who was a member of the Whitewater High School cross country and track teams, took pleasure in the opportunity that running afforded him to present himself with personal challenges and to strive to achieve to the best of his abilities while simultaneously supporting his teammates. A particular source of pride for Don was the illustrious reputation that the WHS cross country team had earned.
