At the age of 88, Dr. Bruce E. Miller, who resided in Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away in a calm and tranquil manner at his residence on September 29, 2023. Gifts in memory of the deceased should be made to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Pender, Nebraska.
Rosehill Cemetery in Pender, Nebraska was the location of the funeral ceremonies that were held for the family on Wednesday, October 11, 2023. At this time, the Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Pender is in charge of making the necessary arrangements.
On February 7, 1935, Bruce was born in the town of Ida Grove, Iowa. Forrest Glenwood Miller and Grace (Sears) Miller’s youngest kid. He is their most recent child. Ronald Miller, his older brother, and Marcia (Miller) Eggers, his sister, came before him in the family tree. Following the relocation of the family to Pender, Nebraska, Bruce began working at his father’s creamery and eventually graduated from Pender High School in 1953. He began his athletic career as a point guard, the quarterback, and an All-Star second baseman.
He was quite an athlete. During the Korean War, he enlisted in the Army and went on to become one of the last Sound Rangers and soldiers. It was through the use of the GI Bill that he was able to earn a degree in education from Wayne State College. After that, Bruce continued his education at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where he earned both his Master of Education and his Doctor of Education degrees.
The affection that Bruce had for his family endured. In Pender, Nebraska, he was introduced to Donna Smith, the woman who would become the love of his life and his high school sweetheart. In June of 1960, they tied the knot. Because of their love and support for one another, they have remained together for the past 63 years.
There were two daughters born to them: Lisa and Jami. Bruce was a skilled bridge player and a golf enthusiast to the extreme. His favourite activities were fishing, hunting, and being outside. Not only was Bruce a talented dancer, but he also cherished the rain.
