Larry H. Boyd, 79, of Angola, Indiana, passed away peacefully at his home with his family by his side on Monday, January 1, 2024.Larry was born on December 1, 1944, in Angola, Indiana to Donald E. and Marie L. (Case) Boyd. In 1963, he joined the United States Air Force.
While stationed in Grand Forks, North Dakota, Larry met the love of his life, Bonne K. Buntrock. The two were wed on December 18, 1965. Following his military service, Larry and Bonne returned to Angola in 1967 and started their family.
Larry was a Journeyman Electrician and worked primarily for the IBEW Local 305. After retiring in December 2006, he joyfully supported family and friends and volunteered on many community projects. He became an avid fisherman in retirement, even taking up ice fishing.
It was no secret that his pride and joy centered on his grandchildren with countless hours sitting on bleachers at sporting events.
Larry’s quick smile and love of conversation endeared him to those who knew him, and he will be deeply missed by all. He faithfully attended the Presbyterian Chapel of the Lakes and was a member of the Angola American Legion Post 31, former member of the Land of Lakes Lions Club, Angola Moose Lodge and the Angola Elks.
Surviving are his loving wife of 58 years, Bonne K. Boyd of Angola, Indiana; his son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Holly Leckner Boyd of Angola, Indiana; daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Chad Hyska of Angola, Indiana; his sister, Beverly McMullen of Angola, Indiana and brother-in-law, John Magallon of Stickney, Illinois. Also surviving are his six beloved grandchildren, Griffin and Reece Collins and Sydney, Nicholas, Bradley and Spencer Boyd.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Donna Magallon.
Memorial Services will be held at noon on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at the Presbyterian Chapel of the Lakes in Angola, Indiana with Rev. Thomas E. Smith officiating.
Visitation will be from 10am to noon on Saturday, January 13, 2024, prior to the service at the church.
Interment with Military Honors by the Angola American Legion Post 31 and the United States Air Force Honor Guard will be immediately following the memorial service at the Memorial Gardens at the Presbyterian Chapel of the Lakes, Angola, Indiana.
