On September 21, 2023, David Martin Reed, who was 74 years old and lived in Oklahoma City, passed away in a calm and serene manner at home, surrounded by his family. Mr. David Reed was born on February 1, 1949, in Pampa, Texas, to his parents, Alma and Raymond Reed.
After receiving his diploma from Putnam City High School in 1967, he remained a resident in Oklahoma City for his whole life. In 1969, David tied the knot with Linda, the woman he had loved his entire life. Each of their children, Lisa, Lance, and Lane, were born to them.
For David, being outside fishing, working in his vegetable garden, travelling, and watching the Oklahoma Sooners play football and softball were all activities that he enjoyed doing tremendously.
David cherished and eagerly anticipated the opportunity to host events and entertain friends and family, one of which was an annual PCHS ’66-67 classmate Christmas Open House that took place at their house. Additionally, he looked forward to the men’s Bible Study that took place on Tuesday mornings.
Before David retired in 2016, he had been self-employed for more than 45 years, during which time he had owned and operated a framing construction firm as well as Blind Alley, a retail window treatment business.
In addition to being a committed and faithful spouse, David was also a devoted and caring father, a fun and loving grandfather, and a generous and loyal friend to a great number of people.
In response to the requests of his grandchildren, David would prepare his well-known deviled eggs and barbecue beans. This was something that David took great pleasure in doing.
His mother and father, his sister Lynn, and his brothers Jerry and Michael all passed away before David became an adult.
The life and legacy of David will continue to be honoured and celebrated by his devoted wife of 53 years, Linda; his daughter Lisa and her husband Mike; his son Lance and his wife Ricque; his son Lane and his wife Kelly; and his grandchildren Kelsey, Jack, Emily, Conner, Kathryn, Julia, Karley, and Drew. David is also survived by his brother Gil (Linda), his sister-in-law Karen Arbogast, his brother-in-law Lee Arbogast, his sister-in-law Debbie Reed, his nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as a large number of close friends and his cherished puppy, Lucy.
