Penelope Rambo Obituary, A Tribute To A Creative Soul

In the quiet town of Steubenville, Ohio, a beloved soul, Penelope S. Rambo, affectionately known as Penni, peacefully passed away on January 1, 2024, at the age of 73. Born on August 27, 1950, in East Liverpool, Ohio, Penni spent her entire life in the scenic embrace of the Ohio Valley. Her journey was one of love, dedication, and creating lasting memories for those fortunate enough to know her.

Penni’s professional life was a testament to her commitment to others. She dedicated several years to working as a waitress at the Green Marble, a local establishment that benefited greatly from her warm smile and kindhearted nature. Penni had a special way of making every dining experience memorable, turning strangers into friends and patrons into extended family.

Beyond the walls of the Green Marble, Penni’s heart belonged to her family. Married to her devoted husband, Jerry Rambo, for an impressive 56 years, Penni was the epitome of love and loyalty. Their union, which began on February 7, 1967, was a foundation built on shared joys and enduring support. Penni was a loving mother to her children, Jerry (Pam) Rambo of Chesterfield, VA, Chad (Donna) Rambo of Raleigh, NC, and Tammy Rambo of Columbiana, OH.

Her maternal warmth extended to her grandchildren, Kalei Rambo-Ratner, Jocelyn Rambo, and Emma Rambo, creating a legacy of love that continued with the arrival of great-grandchildren Zachary Rambo, Landon Rambo-Ratner, Delilah Rambo-Ratner, and Sienna Rambo-Ratner. Penni’s zest for life shone through in her favorite traditions, one of which was the annual pilgrimage to the beach at the Outer Banks.

There, surrounded by family, she relished in the sun, sand, and laughter, creating cherished memories that will forever be etched in the hearts of those who had the privilege of sharing those moments with her. Penni also found joy in the thrill of Bingo and Keno, always hoping for that lucky win that would add a bit of sparkle to her day.

The passing of Penni brings with it a sense of loss that is deeply felt by her family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, William Vaughn and Ella Mae Hendershot, her son Rich Rambo, and her sisters Sandy Croxall and Nancy Silverthorn. The void left by her departure will be filled with the warmth of the memories she leaves behind.

A funeral service to honor and celebrate Penni’s remarkable life will take place at the Martin Chapel of Care Funeral & Cremation Specialists in Calcutta, Ohio, on Thursday, January 4th. Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm, followed by a funeral service at 6:00 pm, officiated by Rev. Norm Eckert. Food and fellowship will be shared afterward in the Martin Room of the Martin Chapel.

In this time of loss, let us remember Penni’s warm spirit, her profound love for family, and the joy she brought to those around her. As we say our goodbyes, may her soul find peace, and may her cherished memories continue to live on in our hearts forever.
