A tragic incident unfolded as three residents lost their lives in an unfortunate event believed to be a murder-suicide. Jeffrey Spaide, a 47-year-old man from Pennsylvania, opened fire on James Goy, 50, and Lisa Goy, 48, during a dispute over snow removal following a winter storm in the Northeast.
The incident occurred in Plains Township, approximately 15 miles from Scranton. Surveillance footage released on Thursday indicates that the shooting was a devastating outcome of a verbal disagreement over snow accumulation along property lines.
The conflict escalated, with James Goy warning Spaide that he would knock him unconscious if he left the premises. In the recorded video, Goy went on to threaten Spaide, expressing his intent to make Spaide’s life a “living hell” and referring to him as an “idiot.”
Lisa Goy, holding a shovel in the images, joined in the confrontation with a barrage of insults directed at Spaide. As tensions heightened, Spaide approached Lisa Goy, who defiantly urged him to proceed. Noticing her firearm, James Goy requested that she “put the gun down.”
Tragically, Spaide opened fire, injuring both James and Lisa Goy. In the midst of the chaos, Lisa Goy screamed for someone to call the police, expressing her frustration with Spaide. Subsequently, Spaide returned to his residence, retrieved a second, larger rifle, and shot Lisa Goy.
Before pulling the trigger, Spaide coldly remarked, “You should have kept your damn mouth shut.” He then returned to his home and used a third firearm to take his own life, according to authorities. The heartbreaking incident serves as a stark reminder of the devastating consequences that can arise from conflicts, emphasizing the importance of resolving disputes peacefully.
