– Chet’s beloved wife of over thirty-four years. devoted mother of Patrick and Daniel. Loved daughter of the late Herb and Barbara Johnson. Keith Johnson’s closest brother and Kim Johnson’s dear sister. Kelly attended Roosevelt Elementary School while growing up in Livonia, Michigan.
In the end, this is how she picked up dancing. She cherished the time she spent with her grandparents, Edgar Lee and Francis Lee, the “Guardian Angel”. Kelly grew up to be a dog lover. She cherished and relished having Mac and Jason as companions. While attending Bentley High School, Kelly valued the relationships she formed there more than anything else. After that, she attended Central Michigan University to study marketing (learned to party) and acquire a bachelor’s degree in business administration.
Throughout her time there, she made acquaintances at every turn. Kelly got her first professional work at WKBD-TV50 as a marketing research assistant after graduating. She was ecstatic to be employed by television.
Following several years of gaining experience in the industry, Kelly secured her ideal position as Research Director at WJBK-TV FOX2, where she has worked for the past 27+ years. Kelly was regarded as the “secret weapon” of the sales department. With her red curly hair, bright grin,
and “Rainman”-like number expertise, how could anyone say no to her? Kelly was an essential member of the FOX2 Family, a devoted viewer, and a model professional. It was in a dancehall in Downtown Detroit called “Memory Lane” where Kelly eventually met Chet.
Despite her initial doubts about her feelings for him, they embarked on an unparalleled love story that spanned more than 34 years. They were, as it were, irreplaceable. The two “Precious” boys Kelly and Chet raised together, Daniel and Patrick, were the ones she was most proud of.
While it was wonderful that they both become prosperous men, she made sure that they were also “real gentlemen” in an even more significant way. They had best be, or she would “Kick their ass” when she returned. She will now, of course, be their “Guardian Angel”. Kelly didn’t get the girl she always desired. Rather, “Lily” was provided by God. a stunning white Maltese/Bichon puppy who accompanied her around and napped at her side. For sixteen and a half years, Kelly spoilt that puppy. The greatest dog ever was her!
