Ann McGettigan Obituary, A Farewell to a Beloved Matriarch Ann McGettigan

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Ann McGettigan, a cherished member of the community. Ann, née O’Farrell, resided at Heatherville House in Benroe, Bruckless, Co Donegal. Her departure is mourned by her sons John, Noel, and Pauric, daughters Jacqueline, Linda, and Deirdre, sisters Breezie, Mary, and Jacinta, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchild, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Ann’s passing follows closely after her beloved husband Jackie, creating a void that echoes the profound bond they shared in life. Together, they built a legacy of love, family, and enduring connections.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects as Ann and Jackie repose at McBrearty’s Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 26th, from 4 pm to 7 pm.

A time to reflect, share memories, and offer condolences to the grieving family. On Wednesday, a final farewell will be held as Ann and Jackie are brought from their home to the Church of St. Joseph and St. Conal, Bruckless, for a funeral Mass at 12 noon. The couple will find their resting place in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Killybegs, where they can share eternity together.

For those unable to attend in person, an online book of condolence has been provided, allowing friends and well-wishers to express their sympathies and share memories of Ann. In lieu of family flowers, the McGettigan family kindly requests donations to Northwest Hospice, Sligo, and Killybegs Community Hospital.

This thoughtful gesture honors Ann’s compassionate spirit and supports institutions dedicated to providing care and comfort. As the community gathers to bid farewell to Ann McGettigan, may her memory be a source of solace, and may the outpouring of love from friends and family bring comfort during this difficult time. May she rest in peace.
