John Kelsey Orr, a resident of Gainesville, passed away on Monday, March 30, 2015, at his residence. He had been battling an illness for a considerable amount of time. On Wednesday, April 1, 2015, at four o’clock in the afternoon, funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery for the interment.
Reverend Boone Strickland will be the one to perform the ceremony. The family will be present at the funeral home to greet friends on Tuesday, March 31, 2015, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., and on Wednesday, April 1, 2015, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., before to the service. Kelsey Orr and Eva Strickland Orr, who have since passed away, were the ones who brought Mr. Orr into the world on June 1, 1942, in the city of Gainesville,
John and Teresa Orr of Gainesville and Johnny and Norma Garner of Oakwood; fourteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Janice and Richard Lockhart of Maysville, Linda and Donnie Evans of Dawsonville and Susie and Eddie Brown of Florida; sisters, Joyce Grindle of Commerce, Brenda Orr of Gainesville, and Judy Free of Gainesville; brothers, Ray Orr of Gainesville and Ronnie Orr of Gainesville; sisters-in-law, Lonnie and Mary Orr of Flowery Branch and Kelvin and Sara Orr of Gainesville; and a
Georgia. Besides being a handicapped veteran, he was a member of the Baptist faith.
