Karen Tenenbaum Obituary Dix Hills NY, Tax Lawyer Has Passed Away -Death

Tenenbaum, Karen Tardy Flatley was born November 7, 1942, in Montreal. Her parents were scientist Herta and William Tenenbaum. When she was 8, her family moved to New York to live with her grandparents, Rose and Adolph Wolfzahn. She attended South Side High School in Rockville Centre, New York, where her family moved. Adelphi College awarded Karen a bachelor’s.

Mark and Karen Tardy married in 1962. Karen worked for Nassau County Social Services for three years before marrying and teaching at PS99 in Queens for four. Karen and Mark had Lisa and Sabrina in Rockville Centre. Karen joined the PTA and LWV. In 1978, they divorced.

Karen started working in cable and satellite after earning her MBA in 1979. She went from Teleprompter in Manhattan to Showtime and Hearst/ABC marketing director.

She eventually became president of PrimeTime 24. Karen Tardy Enterprises, a cable and satellite marketing consultant, was created after she left in 1996. Karen married Joe Flatley in 1995 after meeting in 1979. Karen is survived by her daughters Lisa Girard and Sabrina Houlton, her son-in-law Daren Girard, and her beloved grandchildren Sophie,

Teddy, Zach, Eli, and Natalie Rose. She is survived by her brother Cary Tenenbaum, sister-in-law Elaine Jacobs, niece and nephew Rachel and Caleb Tenenbaum, and many cousins and friends. She loved bridge and organized a duplicate game. She loved literature and the library and coached numerous Mahjong players. Glass, teapots, cooking, travel (especially to Venice), and family were her passions.

She’ll miss you all. Karen’s pleasure will be remembered at Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church Street, Guilford, CT, on Sunday, March 5, with visitation at 11 a.m. and the service at noon. The lunch location will be announced after the ceremony.
