Missing Girl From Brockton, MA Resident Has Not Been Found Yet

In a heart-pounding incident that unfolded at Angelo Elementary School in Brockton, Massachusetts, a 7-year-old girl, Alicia Vitoria Goncalves Teixeira, was safely reunited with her family after being mistakenly placed in the wrong van.

The swift response of Brockton police, school officials, and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro South played a crucial role in ensuring the young girl’s well-being during this unexpected episode.

The incident began when Alicia, a student at Angelo Elementary School, inadvertently boarded a van belonging to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro South. The mix-up occurred during the school’s dismissal time, leading to Alicia being transported to the Boys and Girls Club’s Brockton clubhouse location. Brockton police acted promptly, alerting the public about Alicia’s disappearance and seeking assistance in locating her. The sense of urgency was palpable as community members, parents, and local authorities rallied to ensure the safe return of the 7-year-old girl.

Remarkably, just over half an hour after the initial alert, Alicia was found safe and sound. The Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro South, where Alicia had been taken, expressed deep gratitude that she had been reunited with her family.

In a statement, the organization conveyed relief that Alicia, although not a member of the Boys and Girls Club, had been well cared for at their Brockton Clubhouse.

“While the student is not a BGCMS member, we are thankful that she was safe and well cared for at our Brockton Clubhouse after mistakenly boarding a Club van at school dismissal time,” the statement read. The Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro South also committed to working closely with Brockton Public Schools to review transportation policies and practices to enhance student safety.

The incident sheds light on the complex logistics of school dismissal and transportation procedures, emphasizing the need for robust systems to prevent mix-ups and ensure the safety of every student.
