Michelle Buterakos Obituary, A Life Lived With Passion And Purpose

In loving memory of Michelle Buterakos, age 71, of Monroe, who peacefully departed this world on December 17, 2023. Born on August 17, 1952, in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada, Michelle’s life was a tapestry of love, family, and cherished moments. Michelle, the daughter of Walter and Corinne (Simard) Pinkett, embarked on a journey that included a beautiful marriage to Dale Swiderski in 1972, followed by her union with Michael Buterakos.

Although saddened by Michael’s passing on May 18, 1996, Michelle continued to embrace life as a dedicated homemaker and a proud member of the Eagles. Her adventurous spirit found joy in boating, fishing, and the serenity of sitting by the water.

Michelle’s passion for cooking and the thrill of the casino added vibrancy to her days, but it was the simple joys of family that truly warmed her heart. Her proudest moment, perhaps, was being crowned Ms. Sarnia in her youth—a testament to her grace and presence.

Michelle is survived by her loving children: Typhany (Mark) Chinavare, Dale (Kelly) Swiderski Jr., and Dustin (Elizabeth) Swiderski. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her 10 grandchildren, and she is remembered fondly by siblings Joan Pinkett, Darlene (Roger) Giguere, and Rick Pinkett. Michael Ries, her companion, shared many cherished moments by her side, as did nieces and nephews who held special places in her heart. Michelle is reunited in eternity with her husband Michael, her parents, and her brother Rob Pinkett.

A celebration of Michelle’s life will be held at the Martenson Family of Funeral Homes-Allore Chapel, 203 E. Elm Ave. Friends and well-wishers are invited to gather from 1 pm until a memorial service at 4 pm on Sunday, January 7, 2024.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of Michelle may be made to the Humane Society, reflecting her compassion for animals.
