With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of a remarkable soul, Martin H. Smith of Saginaw, Michigan, who departed this world on December 18, 2023, at the age of 95. His legacy is one of love, family, and enduring connections that touched the lives of many. Born to Frank and Minnie Pearl Smith (Church), Martin’s life was a tapestry woven with love and shared moments.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Karen Smith, and his son Bill Martin Smith, as well as sons-in-law Gerald “Jerry” Blank, Gary Losee, Mike Straight, and Rod Smith, along with his granddaughter Angela Parasiliti. Martin is survived by his children, Sandra “Sandy” White (George), Linda Blank, Roxanne Losee (Tom Rush), and Mark Smith (Kimberly). His extended family includes step-children Phillip Lagalo, Paul Lagalo, Diane Browne (Lonny), and Donna Mitas (Jason).
His grandchildren, Tina Seeger (Chris), Tammy Straight (Jim Turbush), Jason Straight (Melissa), Tim Parasiliti (Liane), Tom Parasiliti (Courtney), Andrea Grzemkowski (John), Lisa Losee, Heather Losee, Jacob Smith, and Samantha Smith, continue to carry forward his legacy of love. Martin is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who were an integral part of his rich and fulfilling life.
A visitation to celebrate Martin’s life will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, and on Thursday, December 28, 2023, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Deisler Funeral Home, located at 2233 Hemmeter Rd, Saginaw, MI 48603. The funeral service will commence on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that those who wish to express sympathy consider making a donation to the Humane Society of Saginaw County. This gesture reflects Martin’s compassion for animals and his desire to leave a lasting impact on a cause dear to his heart.
