Man who was killed in a shooting that took place on a playground in West Ashley has been made public by the Charleston County Coroner’s Office. The incident took place on a playground.
There was a gunshot wound that caused Erick Ortega-Alvarez, who was 20 years old, to pass away at the site, according to Bobbi O’Neal, who is the coroner.
When it came to the shooting that took place at the playground, the Charleston Police Department issued a statement that two juveniles had been taken into custody in connection with the incident.
A 16-year-old and a 17-year-old were both taken into custody and charged with murder, attempted murder, armed robbery, and possession of a pistol during a violent crime, according to public comments issued by the police on Friday on behalf of the public.
The Charleston County Juvenile Detention Center continued to hold both of them in custody at the period in question. Officers of the law arrived at Forest Park Playground at around 1:15 p.m. on Thursday. Upon arrival, they found the body of Ortega-Alvarez lying on the ground between the tennis courts and the parking lot located in the middle of the playground.
