Shooting West Ashley, Charleston SC, Fatal Shooting Claims One Life and Injures Another at West Ashley Playground

Shooting West Ashley, Charleston SC:

A shooting occurred on the afternoon of December 21 at a huge playground and sports center located in a residential area. The incident resulted in the death of one man and the injury of another.

According to Sgt. Anthony Gibson, officers from the Charleston Police Department were on their way to the Forest Park Playground located at 780 Playground Road in response to a complaint of shooting.

The incident occurred before 1:30 p.m. When officers arrived, they discovered a guy suffering from a gunshot wound laying in the area between the tennis courts and the parking lot of the playground. It was determined that he had passed away at the site.

According to Gibson, officers later discovered another guy in the vicinity who had been shot but had incurred injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening. He received medical attention at the scene of the accident.

At around two o’clock in the afternoon, a yellow crime scene tape fenced off the entrance to the playground. The parking area on North Sherwood Drive was jam-packed with a dozen police officers, two ambulances, and other emergency vehicles. There was a white body bag lying beneath a beige tent and a large oak tree next to the tennis courts that were deserted.

The name of the person who passed away has not been made public by the Charleston County Coroner’s Office as of yet. According to the information supplied by The Post and Courier, he is the eighth person to lose their life as a result of gun violence in Charleston during the current calendar year.

Despite the fact that other cops searched the area for evidence, they have not yet singled out any potential suspects. Despite the fact that there is no known threat to the general public, the police think that the shooting was an isolated event.
