Prague University Mass Shooting:
There have been at least 14 people killed and 25 more injured as a result of a mass shooting that took place at a university in Prague, according to the local police and emergency services. This makes it one of the worst incidents of its sort in the history of the country.
After first stating that they were reacting to the gunshot that occurred in Jan Palach Square, which is located close to Prague’s Old Town Square, Czech police later reported that the perpetrator of the shooting had been “eliminated.” The filming took place at around three o’clock in the afternoon (14:00 GMT) at the Faculty of Arts of Charles University, which is located in close proximity to significant tourist attractions such as the Charles Bridge, which dates back to the 14th century.
We have always been under the impression that this is something that does not affect us. Now it has come to light that, sadly, our world is also changing, and the problem of the individual shooter is arising here as well,” Prague Mayor Bohuslav Svoboda said in an interview with Czech Television. Martin Vondrasek, the Chief of Police in Prague, stated that the person who attacked was a student, but he did not provide any other information.
Unknown at this time is the identity of the person who carried out the shooting. According to Vondrasek, there were a total of 14 fatalities and 25 injuries, which is an increase from the previous amount of 15 fatalities and 24 injuries.
He did not provide an explanation for the change, but he did mention that the perpetrator of the shooting is believed to have also slain his father earlier on Thursday in his village of Hostoun, which is located just west of Prague. Vondrasek stated that the gunman is also suspected in the killing of a man and his daughter, who was two months old, in the eastern part of Prague last week. This is based on a search of the shooter’s residence, according to Vondrasek.
