Michael W. Blackson, a beloved resident of Bronston, Kentucky, left this world on Friday, December 22, 2023, at the age of 73, peacefully at his home. Born on June 9, 1950, in Harlan County, Kentucky, he was the son of Helen Harp Blackson and the late William Blackson. Michael was a man of faith, aligning himself with the Baptist denomination.
Throughout his professional life, he contributed his skills as an Electrician at Paramount Coal. Beyond work, he found joy in collecting model trains, a hobby that allowed him to appreciate the intricate details and craftsmanship.
He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Patricia Blackson, and his mother, Helen Blackson of St. Paul, Virginia. His legacy lives on through his children: son Michael S. Blackson (Chrissy) of Virginia, daughter Kelly Elliott (John) of Knoxville, Tennessee, and stepdaughter Lisa Adams (Danny) of Somerset.
Michael is also remembered by his brothers, Steve Blackson (Barbara) and Jacky Blackson (Lisa) of Virginia. His presence will be missed by his grandchildren Ashton, Austin, and Raina Blackson, Jack Elliott, and step-granddaughter Olivia Armitage, as well as numerous other family members and friends.
Friends and family will gather to pay their respects during the visitation starting at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at Southern Oaks Funeral Home.
The funeral service, officiated by Bro. Ernie Wyatt, will commence at 2:00 p.m. on the same day at the funeral home. The final resting place will be Southern Oaks Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of Lake Cumberland, honoring Michael’s memory by supporting an organization dedicated to providing compassionate care in times of need.
