Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at UK Medical Center in Lexington, KY, Phillip “Joe Bear” Church, 66, of McAndrews, KY, died. Hester Allen Church and the late Tommy Church had a son named Phillip on September 15, 1957, in South Williamson, Kentucky.
His siblings Ronnie Church, Gertie Bowens, and Ann Osborne also passed away before him. His brother-in-law Timmy Crawford and nephew Matthew Crawford also passed away. The Turkey Creek Freewill Baptist Church was Phillip’s spiritual home. He served as a deacon there. Debbie Church of McAndrews, KY is one of his surviving wives. Other survivors include his sons Phillip Thomas “Petie” Church and Heather of McCarr, KY, and James Michael “Mikie” Church and Danielle of Belfry, KY.
Among his siblings are Bill (JoAnn) Church of Pinsonfork, KY, Carl Church of South Williamson, KY, Connie Crawford of Pinsonfork, KY, and Janice (Bobby) Shillings of Tennessee.
His grandchildren include Aaliyah Grace Church, Kailee Shae Church, Ella Rose Church, and Michaela Brooke Church. Phillip is also survived by several extended family members, acquaintances, and Christian brothers and sisters.
The R. E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel will be the site of a visitation on Thursday, December 21, 2023, from 6 to 9 PM. Special services will be conducted by Mike Smith at 7 PM. On Friday, December 22, 2023, at 11 AM, in the chapel of the funeral home, Mikey Smith will preside over the funeral ceremonies.
His loved ones will carry his coffin to the gravesite at Mountain View Memory Gardens in Huddy, Kentucky. Belfry, Kentucky’s R. E. Rogers Funeral Home is assisting the Church family.
